Geodesic's subsidiary Interactive signs deal with Entel PCS
Bangalore: Interactive Networks, a Uruguay based software provider of instant messaging and value added solutions, has inked deal with Entel PCS, one of Chile's largest mobile phone operators launched the Windows Live Java service. Interactive Networks is a subsidiary of India based Geodesic. The deal will enable Interactive Networks to provide services to more than six million subscribers, who are among the few in Latin America to have the Windows Live Instant Messaging service adapted to their mobile phones. Users can download for free Entel PCS' Java-based application, which provides connection to their contacts. Entel PCS subscribers can download the service in three ways, by sending a text message, accessing the service through Entel PCS WAP Portal, or by visiting Entel PCS' website. Microsoft's Messenger platform has extensive coverage in Chile, with about 6.4 million monthly users, of which 94 percent have a Windows Live account, and 80 percent of them also use Hotmail. With the popularity of Windows Live Messenger, Entel PCS expects to add around 100,000 users during the first year. "Our Java version provides users with exceptional speed, performance, and a rich user interface compared to other mobile versions currently available," said Alfredo Albetman, Manager, Product and Services, Entel PCS. Mobile customers using Java version have same features as the PC version, including online access to Microsoft's Hotmail as well as the ability to open attached files, upload images, and share documents with others. "Working with Entel PCS underscores how Interactive Networks' IM platform can be tailored to fit our customers' requirements while delivering a superior user experience for user interface design and features," said Andres Szafran, Vice President, Business Development, Interactive Networks.
